CASE STUDY | Orion Lyceum becomes lottery school thanks to great online marketing success by SearchUser

The Orion Lyceum is the only school in Breda for Havo and Vwo where everyone knows each other and can be themselves. What is unique about the Orion Lyceum is their education, where, in addition to their 'regular' subjects, students are given the opportunity to explore for themselves where their talents lie - based on their interests and passion.

Target

For years, Orion Lyceum struggled against the wind and failed to get growing student numbers. In 2013 Rudy Schipperen (Rector Orion Lyceum) enlisted SearchUser's help to boost the school's online position and increase student numbers.

We are now almost 3 years on and, thanks in part to online success, Orion Lyceum has become a draw school because they get too many applications. For the first time in its history! This is less fun for the new students, but a very positive thing for the school and SearchUser. The great success helps ensure that Orion Lyceum continues to partner with us year after year.

Methodology | What does SearchUser do for Orion Lyceum?

We developed an online marketing strategy determined that we optimize each school year. In addition, we provide website advice, in 2015, for example, we addressed the landing page where potential new students go to get their bearings and we do online advertising by means of Google Adwords and remarketing.

Results

From the beginning of 2016, there have already been 22% more visits to the website, compared to last year. Also, the reach in the Breda region has grown a lot. Because the school will move to a new campus on the other side of Breda in 2017, we have also targeted the online reach to the villages on this side. This puts potential, new students in touch with the Orion Lyceum.

Orion's new, unique landing page reduced bounce rate (41%!) and gets many more visitors than the previous one. As many as 2,700 unique visitors have already visited the landing page this year. Previously, visitors landed from the ads on the website which had a bounce rate of 55%.

The great online reach through the ads and the specific landing page we send traffic to, resulted in a growing number of students. In just 2 evenings as many as 42 students signed up and probably this number is still growing. Unfortunately, the maximum number of students is 40, so we will draw lots.

Conclusion

We have only just finished the first quarter of 2016, but with the current results achieved, this promises to be another very great year. SearchUser will optimize online marketing where necessary to get the best results for Orion Lyceum. Then we will come back in 2017 with an even better case!
