Recently, Google indicated that as of September '18, it will no longer display the green lock and "secure" notification in websites with an HTTPS connection in Google Chrome.

When a Web site has an HTTPS connection, it will no longer display a green lock, but a gray lock. The "secure" notification will be dropped. Google chose this because it believes websites should be secure by default.

Websites without an HTTPS connection will be marked as "not secure" starting July 2018. From October 2018, Chrome will display this notification in red as soon as people enter contact information.

As a result, users know immediately that they are about to send data over a non-secure connection.
