As sponsor of the Dutch women's handball team, we are extremely proud of the girls! After a great tournament, the ladies unfortunately lost the final to Norway by one point. The result was 30-29. Nevertheless, the girls have never been as popular as they are now and that is clearly visible on their social media channels. SearchUser has helped generate even more fans through an online marketing strategy.
Last year the ladies already came home with a silver at the World Championships. So the expectations for this EC were very high. The final at the time was lost 31-23 to Norway.
Now at the European Championships in Sweden, they lost their first game against Germany. After a red card for Kelly Dulfer, the Netherlands did not succeed anymore and lost 30-27. Immediately in the second game, the Orange ladies took revenge and won comfortably against Poland 30-21, and advanced to the main round.
In the main round, they had to face France, whom they won from 18-17. And in a thrilling game against home country Sweden, the ladies won 33-30.
After winning the match against Servia with a 35-27 win, the ladies were frontrunners for the European Championship. The handball players would then finish at least sixth, which was already the best performance ever at an EC!
And it didn't end here for the Orange team. They ended up in the semifinals after the ladies won 29-24 over Spain. As they got closer to the European Championship title, things got more and more exciting. And they also made it through the semifinals. With 26-22, the handball girls won convincingly from Denmark.
In the final, the Dutch women's handball team went only for gold. Unfortunately, it was to no avail in the last minute and they went home with the silver medal after a blood-curdling match.
Nevertheless, we are incredibly proud of the Orange ladies and their accomplishments!

The further the Dutch handball ladies got, the more support there was and the prouder everyone became. From all sides, the girls received support from the Dutch public. Among other things, this was evident on their social media channels.

Thanks in part to our online marketing strategy, the number of followers continues to grow. This strategy consists of landing pages, marketing automation and social media marketing. By devising and executing many win promotions on social media, we have now achieved over 50,000 likes on the ladies' Facebook page!
With the wins, we also collected a whopping 4543 unique email addresses! We can create email campaigns for these in marketing automation to retain fans even when there is no European Championship or World Cup going on.
All in all, this was a successful European Championship both for the ladies and for us as a sponsor. We look forward to another event!
