AI innovates the online shopping experience: Google's virtual fitting room

Compare it to trying on clothes in a store. The perfect fit, the right color, you know it all within seconds. But what if we could have that same experience online? Thanks to Google, this is now becoming a reality.

Google is introducing two new features that virtually replicate the shopping experience: a virtual fitting room for clothing and new filters for targeted searches. This virtual fitting room, powered by generative AI, showcases clothing on a wide range of real models, while the new filters help you find exactly what you're looking for.

One of the biggest frustrations of online shopping is that it's hard to determine how clothing will look before you buy it. Google's virtual fitting room, available through the search function, addresses this issue. It can take a single image of clothing and accurately display how it would drape, fold, cling, stretch, and wrinkle on various real models.

Starting today, American shoppers can virtually try on women's outerwear from brands like Anthropologie, Everlane, H&M, and LOFT. This is done through the "Try On" badge on Google Search. This technology, which leverages Google's extensive database of products and sellers, will be expanded to more brands and items in the future.

Google is also introducing new guided refinements to help American shoppers select products more accurately. Thanks to machine learning and new visual matching algorithms, you can now search by color, style, and pattern. This makes the online shopping experience as personal and precise as in a physical store.

With these new developments, Google continues to innovate the way we shop online, enabling us to shop with confidence. With these AI-driven solutions, we are making significant strides toward a future where online shopping is as simple and familiar as shopping in a physical store.
