Google puts an end to rich How-To and FAQ results on desktop and mobile

The digital landscape has been significantly shaken up by recent changes in Google's search results. The search giant has discontinued rich How-To results on desktop, shortly after removing these results on mobile devices. This has direct implications for your web traffic and SEO strategy.

Companies and organizations that previously benefited from visibility through these How-To results now face a challenge. The disappearance of these results also means a decline in How-To metrics and impressions in reports. This change will be clearly felt in your SEO data and approach.

On August 8, this change came into effect on September 13. Support for How-To in the Search Console API will decrease over the next 180 days. However, it is not just the How-To results that are affected; FAQ results are now also limited to authoritative government and health websites.

Barry Schwartz reported in his article on Search Engine Roundtable a notable decline in the display of rich FAQ results. This was also confirmed by a screenshot from an SEO consultant.

How can your company best navigate these changes? By diversifying your SEO strategy, focusing on alternative keywords, and adjusting your content to recent search behavior trends, you will remain visible.

These changes highlight the importance of a diversified SEO strategy. It is crucial not to rely solely on one type of result or strategy, but to adopt a versatile approach to ensure visibility and traffic to your website.
