Google sued by consumer association for privacy violation.

Google, the leading tech giant, may be facing a massive lawsuit due to privacy violations. The Dutch Consumers' Association and the Foundation for the Protection of Privacy Interests demand that Google immediately cease tracking, collecting, and selling consumer data without their consent and pay compensation to all Dutch users.

The groups threaten to take the matter to court if Google does not comply with these demands. The claim is open to all Dutch residents who have used at least one Google product or service since March 1, 2012.

Google is accused of collecting vast amounts of personal data through its ubiquitous products and services, even when users have opted not to allow this. According to the Consumers' Association, Google then creates in-depth profiles of consumers based on this data and sells them to other parties, including those outside Europe, which is in violation of European privacy legislation.

Furthermore, the groups assert that this practice exposes Dutch consumers to the risk of surveillance by foreign authorities. According to the Consumers' Association and the Foundation for the Protection of Privacy Interests, Google has been profiting at the expense of consumer privacy for years.

The violations are serious, but the scale at which they occur makes them even worse. Almost everyone in the Netherlands is affected by this, says Sandra Molenaar, director of the Consumers' Association. She urges Dutch residents to sign up for the class action to collectively stand against such abuses.
