Instagram is considering longer Reels to compete with TikTok.

Are you a content creator who just doesn't have enough time to share your story in the short Instagram Reels? Or are you a TikTok fan who wants more from your favorite creators? Instagram now seems to be offering a solution by extending the duration of its Reels to 10 minutes, a change that aligns the app more closely with both YouTube and TikTok.

Although Meta and Instagram have not yet confirmed the plans, leaked information suggests that in addition to the current three-minute limit, there will be a new option for 10 minutes. This change would bring Instagram closer to YouTube's video duration while also providing the opportunity to compete directly with TikTok, which already supports videos up to 10 minutes for free users and even 20 minutes for paid users.

For businesses and organizations, this potential adjustment offers new opportunities for longer and more in-depth content. Creators can delve deeper into details, storytelling can become more extensive, and more opportunities for branded partnerships arise.

Instagram has already rolled out various updates for Reels to increase engagement in response to TikTok's growing popularity in the world of short videos. These updates, which include new editing methods and templates, make Reels increasingly similar to TikTok. Extending the video duration could be the next step in this evolution, making Instagram an even stronger alternative to other video platforms.

So, if the rumors are true, we may soon enjoy longer Reels that bring more depth and diversity to the content. It’s a development we will certainly keep an eye on.
