You want to create a video for Instagram, but you constantly have to switch between multiple apps to get everything done. Good news: Instagram has finally launched its own video-editing app, 'Edits.' We previously wrote about the announcement, but now the app is truly available.
New video editing features with edits
After months of testing, Instagram Edits has officially launched. The app offers an all-in-one solution for creating and editing videos, similar to CapCut. With Edits, you can get started immediately without complicated workflows or separate tools. Instagram is cleverly responding to the potential TikTok ban in the US by providing a strong alternative.
Edits includes features such as multi-channel editing, project management through a clear tab, and the ability to save ideas and notes for future projects. Creators can discover trending Reels and audio, and record longer videos of up to 10 minutes. Existing Instagram effects like the green screen and cutouts are fully integrated. You can also export videos without a watermark, providing extra freedom for use outside of Instagram.

For companies and marketers, Edits offers a direct opportunity to produce high-quality video content more quickly. The all-in-one approach saves time and costs by reducing reliance on external tools. Important to note: the app is available for free, but some AI features may potentially become paid in the future due to high development costs. Instagram indicates that it aims to keep as much as possible free, which already makes Edits a valuable tool.
