OpenAI's ChatGPT expands with speech and image interaction

OpenAI's ChatGPT expands with speech and image interaction

Every time you ask Siri to set an alarm, you rely on artificial intelligence. Now, OpenAI's ChatGPT is stepping into this realm, but with its own unique twist.

OpenAI has recently announced a significant update for ChatGPT, enabling the chatbot to engage in conversations through voice and interact using images. This update brings ChatGPT closer to well-known AI assistants like Apple's Siri.

OpenAI emphasizes that this voice feature offers many creative and accessibility-oriented applications. In comparison, services like Siri, Google's voice assistant, and Alexa are primarily integrated into the devices they operate on and are mainly used for tasks such as setting alarms and retrieving information.

Since the introduction of ChatGPT, companies have adopted it for a variety of tasks, ranging from summarizing documents to writing code. This has led to competition among tech companies to offer similar services.

In addition to holding conversations, ChatGPT can also tell stories, resolve discussions, and read aloud texts that users input. For instance, Spotify utilizes the underlying technology to translate podcasts.

With support for images, users can take photos and ask the chatbot questions on various topics, such as planning a meal based on the contents of their fridge. For image recognition, Google Lens is currently a popular choice.

The new features of ChatGPT will soon be rolled out for subscribers of the Plus and Enterprise packages.
