Those who could not be left behind: Apple also develops ChatGPT-like AI chatbot

Imagine a world where Apple not only dominates your smartphone and computer but also the AI space. A new report reveals that Apple is developing its own AI chatbot, a direct challenger to OpenAI, Google, and others. Apple's ChatGPT-like tool, internally referred to as "Apple GPT," is currently being tested and has the potential to turn the world of artificial intelligence upside down.

The news, reported by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, indicates that Apple has developed an AI chatbot that is currently in the testing phase. Apple GPT has been developed in-house using a framework called "Ajax." This AI technology is built on Google Cloud and Google JAX, Google's machine learning framework.

It is important to note that the implementation of this chatbot has been temporarily paused internally due to concerns about the safety of generative AI. Nevertheless, the chatbot is now being more widely deployed among Apple employees, although special permission is required for access.

This could have a significant impact on businesses and organizations, as it introduces a new competitor in the AI space. Apple has always been a pioneer in technology, and their move into AI could signify a shift in market dynamics.

While it is not the first to offer generative AI products to the public, Apple is now on the hunt for generative AI talent. The company is seeking engineers with a robust understanding of large language models and generative AI, suggesting that Apple is serious about expanding its AI offerings.

While companies like Google, Microsoft, and Meta have already launched generative AI products, Apple has taken a somewhat cautious approach. However, with the development of their new chatbot, which is being used for product prototyping and answering questions based on trained data, it appears that Apple is ready to change the game.

Despite the fact that Apple's chatbot is similar to Bard, ChatGPT, and Bing AI, and lacks additional features that distinguish it from currently commercially available products, Apple's reputation for innovation and quality could give them an edge in the race for AI dominance.

Apple is also emphasizing their focus on addressing potential privacy concerns related to AI, a concern that is currently high on the agenda in the tech landscape. Apple's CEO, Tim Cook, has indicated that they will be adding AI to their products, but thoughtfully and with respect for privacy.
