Google's AI chatbot Gemini is getting a new feature that tailors responses based on your search history. Asking for a restaurant or travel advice? Then Gemini will base its suggestions on your previous searches. This can be convenient, but it also raises questions about privacy and control.

The function operates on the Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking Experimental model and is only used when the AI believes it will enhance your response. In addition to Google Search, Gemini will also connect to other services in the future, such as YouTube and Google Photos, to provide even more personalized insights.

This development means that Google AI integrates even more intelligently into your daily online activities. For consumers, this can lead to more relevant search results and recommendations. Businesses and marketers will gain new opportunities to offer targeted content based on users' search behavior.

How do you manage this function?

The personalization feature is optional. Users can enable it through the model menu under 'Personalization (experimental)'. The rollout has already begun for web users and will soon follow on mobile devices in more than 40 languages.

In addition, Google is introducing extra features, such as the ability to create custom AI assistants called 'Gems' and improved integrations with Google Calendar, Notes, and Tasks. This makes Gemini not only smarter but also more versatile in use.
