A high ranking within search engines is very important for the findability of your organization. When searching, 80% of people do not get further than the first page of search results. In order for your website to rank as high as possible in Google, it is important to optimize your websites for search engines. In this blog, we share 4 SEO optimization tips to make your website rank better within Google!

Tip #1. Improve the speed of your website

Google values a fast and mobile-friendly website. A website that loads too slowly is very annoying and Google thinks so too. Make sure the loading time of your website is no longer than 2 seconds, this will help you achieve a better position in Google. On websites like GTmetrix you can measure the loading speed of your website for free.

Does your website have a long load time? Then there are a number of ways that can help you make your page faster:

  • Reduce the size of the images on your website. Large images on your website need to be downloaded when you open it. By reducing the size of the images, your website will soon have a shorter loading time.
  • Enable browser caching on your website. Browser caching ensures that the files on your website, such as images, are stored in your visitor's browser. When a visitor returns to your website, fewer files will need to be downloaded. This will reduce the loading time of your website.

Tip #2. Conduct keyword research

Knowing what words people are using when they search for your organization within search engines is important. With keyword research you look for relevant words that your potential customers type into search engines. If you incorporate the keywords from the research in your advertising campaigns or in your blogs on the website, this will ensure a higher organic position in search engines. In your keyword research, also pay attention to your competitors. If a large organization uses the same keywords and has incorporated them into the website, then the large organizations will almost always get priority for these keywords within search engines. Tip #3. Write new content regularly

By adding new content to your website you help Google better understand what your website is about. When Google better understands what your website is about it will ultimately lead to a higher ranking. Try to include relevant keywords from the keyword research in the content you write. Do not use more than 2 of these keywords per page.

Try to have the keywords recur several times within the text on the page. Be careful not to overdo this and not have the words recur in every sentence. One site that does this well is Top-x.co.uk. They write blogs about products that change several times a year. They then write new content about those. This keeps their content up-to-date. By the way, do not use the same word too often. When a word is used too often it can be seen as spam, which will lower the ranking in Google.

Tip #4. Make sure the SEO is set properly on all pages of your website

Make sure your website has an SEO plugin. One SEO plugin for WordPress websites would be the Yoast SEO plugin might be. Completing the SEO plugin on every page of your website will help you get a better ranking within Google.

Within an SEO plugin, you can set an SEO title, meta description and a focus keyword for each page. Make sure you include the keyword you have incorporated into the content of the page. Try to place the keyword at the beginning of the SEO title. This keyword is also the page's focus keyword. It is important to use a focus keyword only once. If you set the same focus keyword more often within your website, you will compete with your own pages within Google.

The SEO plugin indicates in colors whether you have filled in the fields correctly or not. The plugin also tells you right away which points within your page you can improve to make the SEO even better. Below is an example of a completed SEO of one of our blogs.

Do you have images on your page? If so, fill in the alt text for each image. Alt text makes it easier for Google to determine what is in the image. Always try to reflect the keyword you used on the page within the content in the alt text of the image.
