6 content strategies for more traffic to your website

Content strategies are an important component within online marketing. Research shows that content marketing costs 62% less than traditional advertising channels and yet drives three times more traffic and leads. In this blog, we share content strategies for increasing traffic to your website.

Strategy #1. Create content targeted to a specific audience

A successful strategy goes hand in hand with the right target audience. Get to know your target audience as well as possible so you know what topics are relevant. It is important to understand the characteristics, behaviors, needs, habits and pain points of your target audience.

To get your content to the right audience, it is essential to segment your audience. By segmenting your target audience, you can offer the right content to the right people. Each visitor to your website has a different need and is at a different stage of the buying process.

One way to segment your target audience is by developing specific buyer personas. Using specific buyer personas, various messages can be tailored to the personas. An example of a buyer persona can be found below:

To appeal to your target audience, value, timeliness and relevance are important. Offer content that people can hardly find anywhere else. Therefore, do regular research! Look for trends and developments in the market that may be of interest to your target audience.

Strategy #2. Spread your knowledge with guest blogging

Spreading knowledge and bringing it to the attention of a large target group can also be done with guest blogging. You then publish your blogs on other people's websites. This is a very interesting way to increase traffic to your website.

Posting your content on other websites can generate direct traffic for your website. Target the content to the right audience. Always place a clear call-to-action under the article so you attract readers to your website!

Strategy #3. Use your previously written content

Never forget content you've written before! Especially not if this content is qualitative and evergreen. Evergreen content is content that does not age and is of lasting interest to your target audience.

Older content is exactly what you should update and keep using. Updating keeps your content current. Updating old content ensures that content stays relevant and can therefore improve search engine rankings.

Adding links from older blogs to a blog, is an effective way to improve the reputation of your website and organization. With relevant internal links in blogs, visitors will spend more time on your website.

Strategy #4. Excel on at least one social media channel

Of the 7.6 billion people in this world, there are more than 3 billion active social media users. These people have an average of 5.5 accounts of which they actively use 1 to 2. Social media channels are therefore a must have for any business!

Social media and content marketing are connected. In fact, social media is the perfect place to create valuable relationships, develop brand exposure and gather relevant leads.

Strategy #5. Consider investing in paid advertising

Every social media channel today has its own advertising feature with associated capabilities. Through Facebook, for example, it is possible to target based on demographics. With Google, you can target based on keywords. Both advertising options are effective when used appropriately.

Paid advertising is the fastest and most direct way to increase your organization's visibility. Through A/B testing, you can find out what kind of ads match your target audience. Multiple variations are then shown to the target group. The variant with the most clicks and conversions scores best among the target group.

Strategy #6. Take advantage of influencer marketing

Influencer marketing is gaining momentum in the B2B world. In 2019, the use of influencer marketing will only increase.
