We are proud of our colleague Gerrie Eijlers who is through to the playoffs of the handball World Cup with the Dutch men's handball team. The team won 33-30 against Belgium to become group winners. A great achievement considering the fact that after the World Cup in 1961 the Dutch team never managed to qualify for World Cups, European Championships or Games.

Goalkeeper Gerrie moved back to the Netherlands last year after 14 years of handball in Germany. Although he said goodbye to his top sports career in Germany, he did not say goodbye to handball. He still plays handball every week at HV Kras/Volendam and still plays in the Dutch men's handball team.

SearchUser has offered him the opportunity to further develop himself alongside handball. Gerrie now combines top sport with a 32-hour-a-week office job. And this combination is going well for him. He gets the room to develop himself and the space to dedicate himself 100% to the Dutch men's handball team.

"I am very happy with the opportunity to work here. After so many years playing only handball, you don't build up experience in professional life. I really like the combination, although it's a little busier compared to when I played handball alone." - Gerrie Eijlers
