Apple's latest showpiece, iOS 17, was recently announced at the WWDC keynote. Full of eye-catching revelations, including an array of new tools and features, this major software update seems to promise a rebound in iPhone sales after a dip during the holiday season.

With an array of other highlights in addition to iOS 17, including the new 15-inch MacBook Air, the Mac Studio, Mac Pro, and the long-awaited blended reality headset, Apple Vision Pro, Apple is betting firmly on both hardware and software innovations. The Apple Vision Pro could be indicative of Apple's ambition to play a role in the emerging metaverse.

iOS 17 introduces several new features, including a revamped Phone app with Contact Posters, allowing users to personalize their call screen. Also, Apple is introducing Live Voicemail, a real-time transcription of voicemail messages. FaceTime gets its own version of this, as well as new responses such as hearts and balloons, and becomes compatible with Apple TV.

Users will have access to new emoji stickers on Messages and can create Live Stickers from photos. In addition, audio messages will be automatically transcribed and additional location sharing tools and improved search capabilities will be introduced.

Apple's AirDrop makes sharing easier with capabilities to bring iPhones together to automatically share and receive contact information. The new well-being app Journal is designed to help users reflect through suggestive prompts based on recent activities.

The Health app emphasizes mental health, with the ability to record daily moods and emotions and access assessments of depression and anxiety. The new Screen Distance feature encourages users to hold their device further away from their face during prolonged use.

Other new features under iOS 17 include StandBy, more privacy and security features, improvements to Autocorrect, and expanded Visual Look Up capabilities. These developments promise to have a significant impact on businesses and organizations that rely on Apple's ecosystem.
