Google has renamed Google AdWords as of July 24: Google Ads. This new Google Ads brand represents the full Google range of advertising capabilities: Search, Display, Video, Apps etc. 

The new brand features a matching logo. This logo will be used in all communications from now on:

Why the change to Google Ads?

Since the first AdWords model 18 years ago, a lot has changed. Thanks to the smartphone, people now quickly switch from searching for products, watching videos, reading content, games and more. As a result, marketers have more opportunities to reach their target audience. Google ads have evolved and continuously improved over the years to help marketers reach their target audience in the right way. As a result, Google has managed to introduce simpler brands and solutions for marketers: Google Ads, Google Marketing Platform and Google Ad Manager.

This way, marketers can choose the right solution for their business. Google ensures you can create valuable, reliable ads and deliver the right experience to consumers across devices and channels. As part of this change, Google wants to encourage more collaboration between teams (e.g., marketing & advertisers). 

New advertising opportunity for small businesses

Especially for small businesses, Google has introduced a new campaign type. This makes it easier than ever to get started with online advertising. Starting with online advertising is thus no longer a big task for them. Thus, small businesses spend less time on online advertising. This leaves time for other important tasks to keep their business running.

What does this mean for your ads?

Basically, not much is changing. From now on, you will communicate from Google Ads instead of Google AdWords. In addition, you can optimize the performance of your ads by using the other Google solutions such as the Marketing platform and the Ad Manager.
